Can mothers handle social media? They’re big fans, but according to July 2014 polling by Current Lifestyle Marketing, social networking isn’t always fun for mothers.
Instead, mothers are feeling the heat as they share photos and posts with their “friends.” Half of US mother social media users surveyed—those ages 18 to 64 with at least one child under 18 in the household—said they felt pressure to create an image that their lives were perfect on social networks.
This was especially true among younger mothers—whose peers are more likely to access social sites.
Nearly two-thirds of 18-to-24-year-old mother social users felt pressure to create a social presence that depicted the perfect life, and 60% of those ages 25 to 34 said the same.
Half of 35- to 44-year-olds acknowledged feeling this way at least sometimes. Percentages were lower for the two oldest age ranges.
